how do you use bike jumps in pokemon platinum?

The bike is fairly simple in operation. It has two speeds, and you can freely change between the two using the "B" button (I will regard them as Low Gear and High Gear).

In Low Gear, you move a bit faster than running and it allows you to simply go over a ramp.

In High Gear, you move faster in general, making it harder to steer, but you can jump farther off ramps and go up sandy slopes you could not otherwise. This can be very important for some of the later caves.
