Default NBC Merlin - Who is Mordred (SPOILER ALERT)

Anyone else here watch the NBC series Merlin? Very cool

Anyway in the episode today Merlin saved a druid child despite a dragon's warning not to because it will be dangerous to Arthur. In the end the child tells Prince Arthur that his name is Modred. Who is Mordred? Does he kill Arthur or something according to the legends?

Apparently the dragon was right... In Arthurian legend Mordred is a traitor who kills King Arthur in the Battle of Camlann

While the series is based on Arthurian legends, they do have lots of creative freedom so am guessing they just came up with their own version of Mordred. I think it is pretty cool how they made him a druid.
