Default Sacred Pond - with new mechanic: Defector

first here is a new mechanic that could be interesting:

Defector. Cards with the defector ability are pretty powerful but the drawback is that they "defect" to another player under some conditions, though they lose some of their power upon defecting. I think it has potential for interesting cards and abilities. Here is an example:

    Sacred Pond
    Land (Rare)
Defector: when the owner of Sacred Pond is dealt damage by a source an opponent controls, that opponent gains control of Sacred Pond.
T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
T: Add 1 mana of any color to your mana pool. Use this ability only if you are the owner of Sacred Pond
Flavor text: The pond dried out as the invaders drew near

very cool, so its like a city of brass with a more interesting drawback - you can produce any kind of mana for no penalty, but once you take damage you lose it and other player gains an extra land with colorless mana. So I think its pretty balanced.

have you seen Rainbow Vale. its the first card that came to my mind when i read this . personaly i think the card is quite ok but nothing i would play. adding land destruction & mana ramp to a lightning bolt does not seem like such a good plan.

its ok if you have plenty of ways to damage yourself (with that wording lifeloss will not do) so you can actualy get the land back ^^

This card is not raly like Rainbow vale. Once you recieve the damage, the opponent gains control of it but it loses its multi color producing ability (it will only do colorless for him). You dont get it back by damaging yourself since it states "a source your opponent controls"

    cool how about this:

    Kavu Slave G
    Creature -- Kavu (Common)
Defector: When kavu slave attacks an opponent or blocks a creature an opponent control, if kavu is under its owner's control, that opponent gains control of kavu slave at the end of turn.
As long as Kavu Slave is under its owner's control, it is 5/5
    2/2
