Linvala, Keeper of Silence

If Linvala, Keeper of Silence is on the field and a Hellspark Elemental is in the graveyard, can its ability still be played because it is not on the battlefield? Or does Linvala, Keeper of Silence apply to all cards on the battlefied, in graveyards and hands?

If a creature is in the graveyard its not considered "under your control" so yeah you can use the abilities

also the faq says:
* Linvala's ability affects only creatures on the battlefield. Activated abilities that work in other zones (such as cycling or unearth) can still be activated.

I knew it! My friend was so content on it being able to stop them from being used in the graveyard aswell, so I let him have it. Now I can show him! Thanks TauntingElf!
