    when Knowledge Pool is on the Battlefield and I cast a spell from exile, can I pay additional mana costs such as kickers?

    but i read before that if you cast a spell for free u are not allowed to pay kicker

    probably you are confused with putting the card into play rather then casting, for example with elvish piper, in which case you would not be able to pay the kicker cost
