no, i got a scale for weighing yu-gi-oh packs, but i was wondering if i could weigh mtg booster packs for good cards, like rares and stuff. i know that a ultra rare for yu-gi-oh is like 0.7 or is it 0.07? i forget lol

All cards have the same weight, that I'm sure of. I'm not sure whether or not foils will have a different weight, though. But even if they do, you're not guaranteed that the foil will be any good. It could just be a foil basic land, or crap common.

So even if it does work, you're not really going to learn much from it.

yeah, i was just wondering if they had the same weight. So i guess weighing packs would only be good for pokemon and yu-gi-oh.

I never bought a scale or anything, but i weigh the packs with my hands and usually i get a foil. And if i'm lucky i can get a foil rare/ mythic or anything else good. That would be nice. Works every time.

You can weigh, the difference is in Yugioh the 'ultra rares' are always foil, thus always heavier. In MTG there's no guarantee that a foil = a better rare. It could be a foil common, so you could guarantee a foil in the pack (in theory, as foils are slightly heavier), but you couldn't guarantee what type of foil that would be... so yeah

Well in MTG boosters when you get a foil it counts as a bonus. Originally there are 15 cards in a pack so if you pull a foil it's 16. Obviously that extra card makes the pack slightly heavier. It doesn't matter that the card is foil, it's the extra card's weight that counts.

I have never known that you can weigh packs like this. Maybe I should bring a little scale to measure the grams and choose the heaviest one!

Also a friend of mine that works at Meijers told me that if you feel the packs out of a booster box (usually only sold out of plastic packaging in card shops) if you pinch the pack and and try to slide the cards around inside there is a slightly different feeling of foils. They slide against other cards easier.

    PS don't box map.
