No. You spent the blue mana on Cancel, not the Savant. Also, there's a difference between casting and resolving. Even if the Savant was countered, you still cast it.

You can't activate the Crown's ability until you have priority. Before you get priority, state-based actions have to be checked. They see a Myr with 0 toughness and put it into its owner's graveyard....
