    if the creature is a x/1 creature yes. or put another way if you reduce the toughness of a creature to 0 its is placed into its controlers graveyard. that is not a destroy effect (so indistructbale wont work) but a statebased effect created by the rules:

    704.5f If a creature has toughness 0 or less, it's put into its owner's graveyard. Regeneration can't replace this event.
