Its rather debatable Spybot is great for protecting against but Ad-Aware is better at removing the problems. The personal favorite anti-spyware amongst technicians is Malwarebytes. To be honest you really cannot trust just one program to catch everything. No matter how well the company updates some things will always slip through. A good combo would be Spybot for protection and use Malwarebytes just for additional scanning, along with an Protective Antivirus such as Esets NOD32.

    Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.41 - FileHippo.com.

Best Free Antivirus: ESET! Try free antivirus programs for 30 days.

I use them both as they complement each other well and are both free. They have a small footprint so they don't take up much space on your hard drive. Each will find items that the other misses. Just make sure you update the programs' file signatures before you scan each time.
