    Default Saving Problems

I no longer have a complete C64. I do however have the Vice emulator. Now I've found some books with programs to type in in BASIC but I've tried writing programs in my emulator and keep having the same problem. I make a blank disk with the D64 editor but I still can't save to it. Could somebody please tell me why and what I'm doing wrong?

    what happens when you save?

Also you can try downloading blank image disk from lemon64 maybe that will work:

Well I am using a blank image disk and the emulator acts like normal after typing save"whatever",8, only when I load"$",8 I don't see what I just though I saved in the directory.

Just tried it and worked for me. Used the disk image link c64fan posted

here is what I did exactly:

wrote a small program with 2 lines
went to file->attach disk image and chose the blank disk file
    wrote save "hello",8
    saved ok
    wrote load"$",8
did list and I saw the program

maybe you didnt attach the disk image properly?

    True Drive Emulation is on?
    Virtual Device Traps is on?

The only thing that I'd suggest then is to create the image from within Vice.
Make sure to uncheck the 'Attach Read Only'-Box. I hope that helps
