I'm not quite sure, Luke. I have cedar shake shingles and I've been thinking of painting them. I know they have tons of sites on the net for cedar shake shingles. You might want to google "remove paint from cedar shake shingles" and see what you get. Good luck!:)

The best way to do it without damaging the wood, would be to soda/cob blast them. Not a homeowner job, and not cheap, but neither are replacing the shingles.
