What is your favorite Trading card game?
Mine is Shadowfist
Mine is the World of Warcraft TCG
For physical, I'd have to say VS System though Fight Klub is appealing to me more and more. Perhaps it will be a new fav in the near future.
For online, it's a tie between Lord of the Rings, Legends of Norrath and Star Wars Galaxies since they're all fun to play.
Legend of the Five Rings
Fullmetal Alchemist Trading Card Game
Anachronism
Magic: The Gathering
I also like Magic: The Gathering best
I see lots of MTG fans :)
I actually just started playing it recently, I think it is a great game.
M:TG was good back when it was younger. Now it's just gotten way too ridiculous.
Let's put it this way: In what way hasn't it gotten ridiculous.
If you play the game enough, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'd like to know too
Well...first off, there's the amount of sets made. What are they up to? 25-30 now?
Secondly, there's the keywords. Some of them are just rehashes of rules that anyone can find in the rulebook and in my opinion just waste space on the card. They've discontinued a few, but I don't think they've discontinued enough of them since there's what looks to be 50+ that exist. Some of them I didn't even know existed until I checked in Wiki.
I could get into more detail, but it's late and I'm getting tired, so l8r for now.
There are so many sets because the game is successfull. And I like that because it adds a lot of variety to the game.
Also not sure what you mean by keywords...do you mean that some cards for example will just say: "Shroud" while other cards will say "Shroud (This creature cannot be the target of spells and abilities)"
I guess that they put it to help other players, though I could live without the extra words.
Yeah I don't get the thing about it being rediculous because of more sets. Of course theyll keep making sets as long as the game is successful.
I do agree that sometimes the extra rules instructions on the cards can be redundant.
No, I wasn't referring to Shroud. That one's a fairly new mechanic which I don't have much problem with. It can be quite annoying in certain situations of course, but games have cards like that a lot of times.
Keywords I refer to are ones like Defender and then they put (Walls can't attack). It's redundant since back in the older days, they just used to put one and not the other. Vigilance is along the same lines, but that one I can understand more since they conserve space on the card.
And then there's also the decks which make it so your opponent(s) literally can't play anything which, while it helps you, can be annoying to your opponent. I like to be a fair player w/the games I play and just knowing the decks exist annoy me. The most prominent are the Counter decks which do so. Another one which isn't as prominent are land destruction decks. Commonly had Dingus Egg so that your opponent would lose 2 every time you popped one.
And don't even get me started on Black decks...they work in different ways of course, but Black has always had way too much power in the game. Heck...they even printed Phage awhile back and if she got a clear shot @ your life, she'd win the game for ya regardless of your opponent's life.
Blue also has deck destruction which is a way to force your opponent to lose as opposed to Counter decks where your opponent just suffers slowly.
Only real decks that bug me w/Red are the burn decks out there since you don't have to do too much and given peeps are only given 20 life, they can kill you quickly. They do have aggro, but that usually takes more time to set up properly.
White and Green aren't so bad since most of their strats like life gain, creature swarm and such take a decent amount of time to prepare before actually being able to win the game. White can counter Red's burn strat of course, but given Red sets up faster, they usually don't get high enough to overcome the burn.
Anyways...that's just my opinion of things. You guys are entitled to your own of course, but I still say and always will that M:TG has gotten way too ridiculous throughout its many printings.
Yeah some decks can be overpowered :) Like for example there is this Sliver Queen, Heartsone and Ashnod Altars combo which basically lets you create infinite tokens
Though I am more of a casual mtg gamer but still its fun to sometimes try to build powerful decks. Though i play many casual decks with friends just for fun, without worrying about just making decks the most powerful. All colors have their advantages and disadvantages and that is what I like about the game all the different strategies you can use with different colors.
My favorite is the Star Trek CCG by Decipher (Though I think they dont make it anymore? Theyre only doing Fight Klub now?)
