that wouldve been the rational thing to do.

Still nothing beats unveiling and plugging in a brand new atari just like the one in your childhood

If its for investment/collectible purpose then I agree you should always keep games/systems sealed for maximum value. For example if buy a rare seal game and I feel like playing it, I would usually buy another copy which is not sealed for playing purposes.

But otherwise if its just for fun then who cares

Thank you for all your replies. Sincerely, I'm not convinced if I will sell 2600 and 800 XL on eBay (or something similar) since I consider retrogaming as a strong passion. For sure, I would not ever sell a factory sealed C64!

Approximatevely, and considering they're brand new and not sealed , what is their value?

Its always exciting to find the console from your childhood in the thrift shop, and in such good condition makes it even sweeter.

I recently stumbled across a boxed Turbografx 16 in my local thrift shop for only $40, felt very happy

    I think so

I found them on a shop, I cannot say more though

True. I search often, in my spare time, for retrocomputer stuff (little cities with old stores are exciting to discover). It's easier to find them used, a lot harder to find something new or mint...

P.S. This reminds me things such a Frogger cartridge for C64 found 7 years ago into a closing shop!

I also enjoy hunting for retro stuff a lot. Its like a treasure hunt.

Every weekend I visit at least 3-4 antique/thrift shops and see what retro goodies I can land. Not long ago I found a M.U.L.E. game for the C64 in almost new condition for only $5

Damn it, you guys get all the good stuff, the best thing I've found at a thrift store is H.E.R.O. for the 2600.

I have also found a factory sealed, UNOPENED Atari CX-2600A. I have the original receipt as well.
What would the value be for this?

Oh, and no worries...I'm NOT going to opened it to see if its still works.

This one here went for around $500 on ebay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ategory=139971

So I'd say its around that value, maybe like $600

I see this on Ebay right now with a pricetag of $16,000:
1980 ATARI 2600 WOODGRAIN SYSTEM VGA 80. FACTORY SEALED - eBay (item 200386151755 end time Oct-20-09 12:46:33 PDT)

It's VGA Graded, but I dont think it is worth that high
