After alot of searching, it looks like I have the Gatcha Spartan.
It would appear I have the UK version of the toy.
Has anyone heard of this, or have any idea of value.

This one on Ebay looks similar. But it's probably a different version because it says Popy and not Bandai?

Anyway this particular one is listed for $1,100 Euros (or 2,110.33 US$)

eBay.com.sg: Gatchman Gatcha Spartan Popy (item 120369783467 end time Feb 27, 2009 00:07:51 SGT)

    Interesting,

So what's the connection between Popy and Bandai? Are they the same company? They appear to have the same logo.

I think Popy is a subsidiary of Bandai

So would the Bandai or Popy version be worth more?

So I understand the one in that auction is the Italian (Or Singaporean? ) version, and the one belonging to the author of the post is the UK version (also shown by the BBC UK sticker there)

I believe Popy used to be a Subsidiary of Bandai. Before Bandai bought them, they would manufacture some of their toys in Singapore.

It's also mentioned on this page. It says "Gatcha Spartan (Italy and UK only) (Popy)"

So apparently there is a UK and Italy version. The author has the UK version, and the auction that someone linked has the Italian version. Wouldn't know which one is worth more though.

This post (from another forum, you might have to register there to view the pictures) mentions yet another obscure third version of the Gatcha Spartan. On the box it says "Space Fleet Mother Sun Separates Combat Cruisers 5 5 in 1"

Upon furthere examination of the vehicles, I found some interesting tidbits.

    1) On the actual box, in diferent places, it says,"DX Popinica Series, Gatcher Spartan, and Gatcher 5,"

    2) On vehicle No. 1, (the red triangular fighter) there are two stickers on either side that say:"Gatchaman F"

    3) On vehicle No. 2, (the blue race car/plane vehicle) there is one large sticker on the back wing that says: "Gatchaspartan... Air Combat Fighter"

    4) All five vehicles are part diecast and part plastic.

    5) And finally, Under each vehicle there are some markings. They are:

    #1 Red Fighter: Singapore, PB-89
    #2 Blue car: PB-90
    #3 Green Hovercraft: Singapore, PB-91
    #4 Black/White Tank: Singapore, PB-92
    #5 Yellow Base: Singapore, PB-93

The toy in that thread you mention appears to be the Singaporean version (Or Italian one? I'm confused ) of the toy, except in a different box.

I'd say its considered the Italian version, but was manufactured in Singapore. I could be wrong though.

The Popy version is also pictured here:

    robot-japan - Gatchaman/G-Force Thread plus Eagle Sharp

It's referred to as "Gatchaman F - Gatchaspartan DX - European version"

There's also lots of other cool BOTP toys mentioned there, worth a look.

If that's considered the "European Version" then what's the UK one considered? The UK was also part of Eurpoe last time I checked.

It appears that people here are finding pictures/references to the Popy version but not to the Bandai version. So I am assuming the Bandai UK version is more rare.

Though that UK version also appears to be made in Singapore (At least that what it seems like if I look hard at the tiny text on the box in the photo)

So maybe it's the same toy, except that the packaging is different between UK and Italian version?

Thanks for all the comments on the toy. I can confirm on the bottom of each vehicle is imprinted Singapore and the letters PB89 through to PB93 for each individual vehicle.
I dont have any idea what sort of price I should be looking for.
On examination of my toy, I appear to be missing a missile launcher off vehicle number 4 and the instruction manual that came with the box, there is also a small tear on the main box. I know all of this will have to be considered in the valuation.
Thanks everyone for there comments so far.

I still think it would be worth around $1,000.

If it was new and had all parts and everything, it could have probably been worth even $2,000 to $3,000
