Im doing a pokemon pearl nusloke and i named my female Chimchar Ashley
My chimcher is Ashley
Because I enjoy keeping a midly congruent atmosphere with the media origin, i usually name my pokemon based on Japanese words. My personal favorites are:
Males:
bulbasaur: Hōga (jap. for "bud" or "sprout")
treecko: Hao (Ha-: leaf, -o: tail)
mankey: Hokai ("collapse" as to how my lv. 8 mankey tripped Brock's onix with one low kick)
spinda: Hakkyō ("crazy")
zangoose: Jinkō ("wild cat")
pikachu: Senkō
meowth: Koban (an Edo period currency)
charmander: Kakoro (a mix between kāko and kokoro, meaning "tinder" and "heart" respectively)
zigzagoon: Gumashi (another mix, now between "guma": mammal ressembling a bear, and "ashi": feet, paws)
spearrow: Kakashi (scarecrow) or Sasu (stab)
abra: Kaisō (forwarding)
electabuzz: Jinrai (thunderclap)
wurmple: Tamato (tamato berry)
Females:
pikachu: Chika (from the onomatopoeia chika-chika of a flickering light)
electrike: Kira (from the kira-kira sound of something sparckling or glittering)
poochyena: Shiba (turf)
poliwag: Zaa (from the zaa-zaa of heavy rain)
nidoran: Ibara (thorn)
weedle: Hari (needle)
whismur: Ruiru (tear flow)
I gave my pokemon my own gamer name: SmexySumo. I think it describes my personality, that is why
