I cannot argue that there are times I miss the first generation. Some of my favorites stem from back then (Eevee and its original evolutions). Even now though, the original 151 get a lot of love in the competitive field.
Yeah, i guess so but it would still be nice if someone still played them.
A few of them are found in the OU category. The team I am presently designing is actually based around Raichu. I cannot say much more as it is a work in progress and only a portion of the team is done.
Most of the time, if I feel there is a lack of one Pokemon, I do try to use it in a team.
OU category? Whats that? And teams? Sounds like you get very technical about this kind of stuff.
OU=Overused tier.
I do get that way, but it does help show the strategy in the game. Even in Red/Yellow/Blue Mewtwo was not invincible, most like very hard to take down for most and very impossible for some.
The original games offer a very different experience too. The game was fairly simple back then too without all the stats of today or all the types. I miss that the most, just a simpler set up to deal with.
What did the Unknown caves do in gold/silver/crystal
Ahhh, the Ruins of Alph, formerly the Alph Ruins. It is all all for Unown, the alphabet Pokemon. It lets you understand the various "hieroglyphics" that are written using the shapes of Unown. After a little practice, it is not too hard to get without too much difficulty. Took me a little while to get it though.
Do the messages help with anything?
Mostly they help in navigating around the Ruins the Unown are found in
I never went anywhere without my old Gameboy and pokemon blue. I still try and some of the originals into my teams in the newer games when i can. Rhyhorn is always in there for me. I kinda wish they just stuck with the old 5 HM's. Having 4 water ones was a killer.
hmmmmm. can't go wrong with a luvdisc :D
lol jk. I find raticate's very useful in my team
I'm with ya on that one. can't they just make them tms like they did with flash?Quote:

I don't remember flash ever being a Tm... Rock smash was in G/S/C.
But while on the subject of building teams, did any of you ever try to beat the battle frontier in emerald. I am currently trying to train my team.
Salamence
Tyranitar
Blissey
I never beat battle frontier, takes alot of time. Good choice with Tyranitar though. One of my all time faves.
My team now is...
Salamence - (holding) Kings Rock
Rock Tomb
Dragon Claw
Flamethrower
Return
Tyranitar - Quick Claw
Earthquake
Thunderbolt
Aerial Ace
Crunch
Blissey - Focus Band
Toxic
Minimize
Soft Boiled
Ice Beam
I would like some advice if somebody thinks it could be better.
old school? i've still got my original R/B & G/S in an old Pokemon TCG tin :D
My current "old school" team?
Dragonite (Choice Band):
Fire Punch
Waterfall
Earthquake
Outrage
Alakazam (Choice Scarf)
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Grass Knot
Charizard (Flame Plate)
Wing Attack
Flare Bitz
Belly Drum
Substitute
Arcanine (Life Orb)
ExtremeSpeed
Thunder Fang
Crunch
Flare Blitz
Marowak (Thick Club. move list needs work)
Bomemerang
Earthquake
Double-edge
Thrash
and a level 23 Tauros i'm not done raising.
as you can probably guess, i'm not one for any strategy that doesn't involve hitting as hard and fast as you possibly can.
Dragonite is just an incredible beatstick for pure damage and Charizard's "substitute>belly drum>flare blitz" can deal a ludicrous amount of pain if it goes off. Thick Club allows marowak's nice 250 attack value to double.
no team of mine wouldn't be complete without my all-time fav psychic pokemon, who when i first got him in Red and kept the tradition alive in Pearl & Heart Gold, always seems to beat the league with both hands (not that he needs them) behind his back: Alakazam! oh how i loves me some glass cannons!
now, that doesn't mean i don't like the new ones. i wouldn't dream of trying to catch them all without Gallade's help (i've bred him to have a very nice moveset specifically tailored for catching mons) or traveling minus the Bibarel brothers (7TMs + Headbutt between them both).
plus, some of the newer ones like Dusknoir are pretty cool and once i can get a decent movelist i'll definitely be raising one. and i also need to get started on training Team Rotom.
Yes that does sound like a good team, mine is made of 3 for the battle frontier in emerald though... restrictions aply...
