why? will they breed?

What the day care center man told you means that it might take them a bit longer to make an egg, since they dont like each other that much. Usually this is the case when they both have the same trainer (you), if they are from different trainers then they like each other more.

But if they couldnt make an egg at all, the day care center man would tell you that "The two prefer to play with other Pokemon."

Just keep checking and hopefully the daycare centre man will soon tell you that there is an egg for you
