how do you use pickup ability in platinum?

Basically the pickup ability lets a pokemon pick up items held by other pokemons you fight after battle. it will pick up even if not it didnt participate in battle. Items pick up might differ depending on level. Make sure pokemon that is picking up is not holding any items itself before the battle, or it wont be able to pick up the items.
