Which pokemon do u want to find? I think you get Psyduck early on in Oreburgh Gate.
Also remember that in Platinum you can also walk with your starter pokemon in amity square. Make sure to read this guide: Amity Square: A Tour Guide Have fun strolling about Amity square with your cute pokemon!!
