Pokemon WiFi Event - Oak's Letter! Running Sept 28th to Nov 8th

Oak's Letter is now available through the Wifi Mystery Gift in the following Regions:
America, Europe & Australia/New Zealand.

This event runs from Sept 28th to Nov 8th

For those who are unfamiliar with "Oak's Letter", like the Member's Card, this allows one to get a one-time Pokemon unattainable through any other means:
Shaymin!

My source is unclear if this is for all 4th gen games, so I will investigate this and check it out. Details will also be expanded on later once I've had a chance to play through this event.

Getting Shaymin:
1) acquire Oak's Letter from a Pokemart
2) Head to Route 224. This letter will grant you access to an extension of it
3) Catch yourself a Shaymin!

Finally managed to get all the info I need to put a decent update on this thread:

Much like the Secret Key event for Rotom and the Member's Card for Darkrai, the event is running over the Nintendo Wi-fi for only a limited time! There is no assurance this will happen again! My suggestion, find your local internet-friendly cafe and get your DS configured for it.

Activate the Mystery Gift through the Jubilife TV station (full details found in Pokemon Platinum WiFi Guide)
A) Go to the 3rd Floor and talk to TV Producer answering his questions as such
B) Opinion on TV: Everyone Happy
C) Feedback on TV: Wi-Fi Connection
D) Save your Game!

Getting Oak's Letter:
1) Go to the Mystery gift option on the start menu, while in a Wi-Fi accessible Hotspot
2) Select receive from Nintendo WFC
3) Go to Any Poke Mart and talk to the person at the edge of the counter
4) SAVE YOUR GAME!

Getting to Route 224 is somewhat tricky. It requires that the player has cleared the Elite Four before they can even access it (this does not prevent them from acquiring the Mystery Gift though).

Getting there:
Go to the Elite Four Building.
Exit it and head to Victory Road (down the waterfall and to the right)
Once inside Victory Road, Rock Climb down on the far side of the bridge
Head off to the left, taking the first upward turn
Take a left at the top of the cooridor and immediately, head down, going up some slightly hidden stairs.
Cross the bridge that is down and to the right of these stairs
Keep going to the right, you will find a doorway (and if you haven't grabbed it, the Pokeball there has some Zinc in it)
This leads to some fair sized Rooms where you escort Marley through, with her haeling your Pokemon after each battle. There are some puzzles, but nothing too hard.
Once you clear the rooms, it takes you to Route 224

Getting Shaymin:
Once on Route 224, you will want to reach the very top of the Route.
The basics would be head up, follow the path right, then continue to follow it up
When you reach the top, you will meet Marley again and Prof. Oak should be standing next to a Stone.
he will ask you who you would like to say your thanks to. Enter any name and something should happen after you confirm the name with him
I recommend hopping on your bike after Shaymin makes it appearance to cover the distance from Route 224 to the Flower Paradise

Shaymin is level 30, has Growth, Sythensis, Magical Leaf and Leech Seed. It is a grass type Pokemon in its Land Form.

Changing Shaymin's Form:
once you have Shaymin, head for the Floaroma
There, to the left of the sign for the City you will find a Girl.
Talk to her with Shaymin in your Party and she will give you the Garcidea Flower.
Use this on Shaymin to change it from Land to Sky form

IMPORTANT NOTES:
Sky form is only accessible during the Daylight hours (4am to 8pm) and it will revert to its land form during this time. It will also revert when it is frozen.
