Anyone know the best way to remove sharpie marks from N64 cartridge?
goof off, but don't let it sit on it as it will melt the plastic. just dampen a rag and gently wipe and don't get it on the label
Buy a new game
I never used goof off before, but I do it all the time!
Seriously, I just wiped it with a damp rag a few times (fast) when i had to.
Mr Clean Magic Eraser, you will have to scrub at it but works great.
Im not sure about N64 but Googone will eat NES and SNES plactic on contact. So No Goo Gone
In my experience, magic erasers work well, but are a little pricey, and goo gone leaves a oily residue that is hard to get off.
If the marker is on the sticker, you are probably out of luck. I have, however, used rubbing alcohol (90%) successfully to clean stickers of cartridge games. If the marker is on the front of the plastic, a mix of ammonia, and rubbing alcohol, using a towel will work wonders, but you have to scrub vigorously. If the marker is on the back of the cartridge, you can buy a tool to take the game apart, and simply replace the back with a clean back from a game like Quarter Back Club '98!
Ive found that depending on the type of marker it can be remove with a Hi-Polymer Eraser. Which are great for cleaning the cartridge contacts as well.
Easiest thing to do is to grab rubbing alcohol from your medicine cabinet. Put a little on a rag and go to work. Works like magic. Just don't do the label or you'll pull the ink off that too.
Happy collecting!
Has anyone ever tried some WD40 spray...it even works on removing label ink....
