Yeah I remember Battletoads was very hard

Battletoads was a hard game
bionic commando was a really hard game
I don't think I ever played contra without using the konami code
paperboy I think was hard because the object of the game and contols were silly
I never thought mike tyson's punchout was that hard, it's just timing

now what about back to the future?
How about skate or die?
And finally… could you ever keep your feet on the power pad for track and field? Really?

Oh yeah, Track and Field and Power Pad was a blast

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Thanks to the AVGN Ive discovered, I did not have "Anger Issues" as a child it was the games. :p

Zelda 2 is hard as hell, but the hardest game I have ever played is Smurf: Rescue in Gargamel's Castle for the 2600. I cant get past the first jump.:o

The first 2 Ninja Gaiden games should have been on that list as well. Also I can't believe they left Silver Surfer off the list. :eek:

You just need a top 50 list to do justice to every hard NES game :)

I would replace Paperboy and Punch Out with Silver Surfer and Ghosts & Goblins

yea they do need a top50 list. bayou billy was a tough game

but yes I'll always remember silver surfer as being the hardest and don't forget about the 1st mega man.

Deadly Towers was the hardest game I ever played. I hated myself for continually trying to beat it.

Maybe it's just cause I was 13 and didn't know any better, but Time Lord killed me every time. I think it is the only game I have ever owned that no one I know could beat.

Double Dragon 3 was stupid hard too. And what about Shadow Gate?? Mega Man 2 made me cry :(

Shadowgate was hella hard and I cant believe castlevania 2 did not make the list or kid icarus

I can't beat level 3 in battletoads either and I always had a hard time bayou Billy and Ninja Trutles!!!

Contra became easy once you learned the game...eventually you don't need the code. Takes practice though.

Bionic Commando was a blast. Love to beat that game. Played it last week. Was not that difficult to me. Especially since the original storyline of the game was intended to be where you fight the Nazis and a resurrected Hilter. Personal favorite.

As for the other three.......

Er... I kinda disagree on "Contra." Own it since childhood and you really don't find it that hard. I agree with Strong Beef: when you've played the game your whole life, you've learned it enough that nothing can challenge you. I can finish it in under 15 minutes without significantly losing any lives. Certainly without the 30-lives Konami code.

Now I also agree with Satchmo: "Ghosts n' Goblins" should DEFINITELY be on that list. It was my impression that everybody agreed this was the hardest game of all time! Not only it was impossible to beat, but it was also impossible to CARE about beating it! It was such an unwelcoming game, with the worst play-control I've ever experienced.

Now, "Castlevania III" was also a very hard game. Dracula was never so hard as he was in that game.
