how fast should a good magic deck be?
how fast should a good magic deck be?
depends on the format and type of deck.
here is an example:
in legacy you have decks like landstill (very good deck - u/w control) the earlyest this deck can kill playing it solitair is turn 6. realisticly the deck will win more like on turn 10-15 ...
on the other hand you have dredge (also a very good deck - dredge combo) this deck can win turn 1 and if you dont win y turn 3 the latest the deck is running realy realy poorly
so we have ~ turn 12 on the one side and ~ turn 2 on the other. still both decks are among the top decks of the format. both can and will win a lot of games. the diffrence is that one is a straight control the other a pretty much straight combo deck.
generaly speaking diffrent decks have diffrent "speeds".
combo
fast agro
midrange agro
agro control
control
that is about the speed ranking. depending on format the exact turns you should be able to kill your opponent in will variie.
vial goblins (legacy fast agro very good deck) kills turn 3-4 with a very high turn 3 percentage. stadard fastagro (like boros or red deck wins) also win on turn 3-4 but the number of 3 turn wins are a lot less often. there the diffrences are very small.
so first you have to decide what you want to play then i can tell you smething about how fast your deck should be to be competative.
In addition to what seba said, I think it also depends on your definition of "good". To me, a "good" deck isn't one that wins by turn 4, but one that plays a fun and enjoyable game.
Fluttershy is best pony.
ohh yes very true !!! when someone asks how fast a deck should be im thinking competative tournament decks. there fun should also be a factor but its frustraiting if your unable to compeat ...
in casual it realy does not matter at all as long as you enjoy yourself your already winning
