Default Help with a Black/Red Discard deck

Building a deck around Quest for the Nihil Stone, mostly black with red splashed in for some board control. Played 10 games, and am at 5-5. The loses all involved me getting overrun before I had them to 0 cards. The wins are when I was able to keep the board nearly empty while I ran them down to 0 cards. Looking for some advice on how to survive long enough to get them to 0 cards.

    LAND x 20

    Swamp x 10
    Mountain x 6
    Dragonskull Summit x 4

    Creatures x 10

    Nyaxathid x 2
    Slavering Nulls x 2
    Hypnotic Specter x 3
    Guul Draz Specter x 3

    Other Spells x 30

    Blightning x 4
Quest for the Nihil Stone x 3
    Liliana's Caress x 4
    Mind Rot x 4
    Mind Sludge x 3

    Duress x 4
    Lightning Bolt x 3
    Scepter of Fugue x 2
    Terminate x 3

    Thanks for the help.

Maybe burning inquiry and megrim can somehow be added to that deck

Burning inquiry is a fast one to make him discard and then take dmg from your enchantments such as the megrim or liliana's carress

Are you trying to make this standard or vintage?
If its vintage than I have a lot of recommendations. I'll check up on type 2.

Are you trying to make this vintage? It can't be standard, so much of that stuff isn't Standard.

It's supposed to be standard. I'm fairly sure it all is.

The OP's posted list is standard legal.
'till scars comes out, at any rate.

You want a real, honest to god discard deck? here you go, kid:

    4x bloodghast
    4xShambling Remains
    4x Viscera Dragger
    4x Hellspark elemental

    4x Megrim
    4x Lilianna's Caress
    4x Burning Inquiry
    4x Blightening
    4x Lightening Bolt

    4x Dragon Skull Summit
    4x Dragon Claw Reaches
    Add mountains, Swamps to taste.

Oh, my bad. But still, there is no point in making a Standard deck if most of the cards are going out soon.

I was going to say that you cant use a card in your deck just because it was made in a deck that is NEW.

Like terminate for instance, I thought you were using it because it was printed in archenemy.

I was not aware it was in Reborn.

    Your deck intrigues me, Kirby.
When I played tournament magic years ago I loved the discard strategy.

I suggest you try to shutdown the last loophole your opponent has got when your deck is already up and running:
Playing his single drawn card right away during his main phase.

For doing so the !Wand of Denial might be useful.

Being cheap to cast, and with no mana cost to use, it can also help you control your opponent's early hand, until you've got the mana to unsheath all your weapons.
