how do I get to the college of Winterhold? Skyrim

In Elder Scrolls V Skyrim I keep getting told that the best place to learn new magic spells is the college of winterhold

but how the heck do I get there its not even on my map

Actually it's easy to get there. Go to the city of Whiterun. Then hire the horse carriage outside to get you to Winterhold (trip costs around 50 gold but is worth it). Then when you arrive at winterhold, go north to the college.
