Default Best age for a kid to start building model trains?

    Hello everyone,

I have a 6 year old son who seems to be interested in Trains, so I am thinking of introducing him to the world of model trains and railroads. What do you think is the best age for him to start? Are there any model trains that are meant specifically for small children?

I think 6 years might be too young an age to actually build the model trains themselves, but he could certainly watch you build ones (and help a bit) and operate them (only with supervision)

When he grows up more you should then get him some starter sets, I think Lionel has various starter sets available

It's a case to case basis actually, so long it doesn't materially affect your priorities in life. Model railroading is the one hobby that can occupy the attention of every member of the family. Each is recruited to perform a task. Visit trains & scenery to learn more about this hobby.

I wasn't any older than 6 when My father let me build Lionel HO scale train sets. Maybe start him off with the Thomas plastic sets.
