   It makes perfect sense, because exiling two creatures is a very powerful effect.

   Think of it this way - if those two creatures would have dealt you more than 5 damage, you've essentially gained life by casting Ashes to Ashes.

   You only have to show the other player a card when you're searching for a card of a specific type. If the spell simply says "search your library for a card" then you don't need to show them anything.
