on the one hand i love stuff like oath of ghouls and oversold cemetery on the other hand it still feels like an awfuly black effect. why didi you choose to pin it on an artifact ?

It used to be a black enchantment. But I put it in my artifact-based set and found perfect art for it in artifact form, plus I felt that although it's a black effect, the drawback it's attached to makes it okay for a bleed, especially at rare (and, again, in an artifact-based set).

Whenever you see ~ in the rules text of a fantasy card, insert the name of the card.

Personally I despise the practice. It disrupts the flow of reading a card, ruining the grock factor.

So you would be sacrificing Broken Crypt? I suppose it would work good work an Elf deck along with some Skullclamps and some Sword of the Meek...

Eh, it's just a common practice that I've gotten used to.
