Guile + fireball

Say i have Guile in play and a player casts Fireball, i counter, Fireball, is removed from the game and i have a chance to play it, if i do what would be the value of X ?

Whenever you play an X spell without paying its cost, X is always 0.

got some follow-up questions think i know the answers but its better to check so here goes
1-If Echo mage copies my enemies fireball does the copy have the same value for X as the original or is the value for the copies 0 ?
2-And if he copies say Horobi's whisper but i dont have any swamps does that mean the copies have no effect ?
