searing blaze one target becomes invalid misdirection magic faq

misdirection changes the target of a spell with one target and searing blaze has 2 targets so I know you cannot normally misdirect searing blaze, but what happens if one of the targets of searing blaze becomes invalid can (so technically the searing blaze has only 1 target now) can you use misdirection then?

No. Searing Blaze still has two targets - one of them may be an illegal target, but it's still a target.

why would you want to misdirect it wouldnt the searing blaze be countered anyway since it cannot target all of its targets?

No, it's only countered if all of its targets are illegal. If at least one target is still legal, it'll resolve and do as much as possible to that target.
