Default Couple Questions about "The Stack" MTG

    Scenario #1:

I am playing a white ally deck, I have a kibara evangel out which gives allies protection from any color until end of turn when an ally creature is played.

So say I have 1 kibira evangel out, I throw down another ally (hada freeblade), and protection from red...

Can my opponent then lightning bolt (or whatever instant) my kibira evangel or hada freeblade in response to me playing the ally before it resolves?

    Scenario #2:

So say the same thing above but with a path to exile being used against me instead of a lightning bolt, Could my opponent cast path to exile before the ally's ability resolved, thus making my protection white null?

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    1. Yes. He can respond to either the Ally itself, or the Evangel's triggered ability to Bolt it. Note that he hs to do so before he knows what colour you're choosing. If he lets you choose a colour, he's allowing the ability to resolve, so it's too late to Bolt it (but by the same hand, you have to give him a chance to respond before you shout out a colour, otherwise you're just giving him some free information on what you intend to choose).

    2. Exactly the same as above.

If he's smart he'll do it in response to the Ally spell, removing the Evangel. This way, your other Allies won't gain any protection.
