Would I know gain double life whenever that creature deals damage?

Lifelink is an non-cumulative static ability, so while you can give something lifelink twice, it will do nothing special.

The controller of the creature with lifelink gains life when that creature deals damage. Incidentally, the Gatherer rulings for Nectar Faerie clarify this as well:

10/1/2007: If you grant lifelink to a creature controlled by another player, that other player will gain life when the creature deals damage.
