    No damage would be dealt, because the 7/7 couldn't deal lethal damage to Fog Bank, somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

    You're wrong.

    Trample only changes how damage is assigned. It doesn't take into account how much damage would be dealt, or whether or not the blocker would actually die. You only need to assign damage equal to the creature's toughness (minus any damage already on it), and the rest can trample over.
