    can a creature with soulbound such as Geist Trappers choose as its pair a creature that has shroud?

    Yes, the soulbond ability doesn't target.

    well because soulbound is a new skill and there was no pairing when they invented protection, is "pair" going to be added to stuff protection protects against?

    Protection from everything is still just protection, and works exactly the same as any other form of protection.
