complex rules situation regarding flying and reach?

I was playing magic with my friend and I attacked with my Stone Spirit

He had a Arachnus Spinner equipped with Cobbled Wings

I argued that the spinner cannot block my spirit since the spinner has flying and stone spirit says it cannot be blocked by creatures with flying

but he said the spinner has reach as well, and showed me on his iphone a ruling from gatherer saying that it can be blocked by creatures with reach?

I told him that "Can't" wins over "Can" so since creature with flying "CANT" block and creatures with reach "CAN" block then the can't wins so he cant block

but he says that the rulings in gatherer are official and override any other rulings so he claims he CAN block it

whats the correct ruling here?

You're right. It doesn't matter what other characteristics or abilities the creature may have - if it has flying, then it can't block the Spirit.
