if other player is at 2 life and he controls a Essence Warden and I flicker a Keldon Marauders, does he lose?

Flciker's a sorcery, so sicne you cast it I'm assuming it's your turn. In that case, his Warden's ability will resolve first and give him 1 life before he takes any damage.

does the answer change if he was at 1 life?

Well, the abilities still resolve in the same order (gains 1 life, then takes damage), but since he doesn't have enough life, it doesn't really matter. He goes up to 2, then takes 1 damage, tehn takes another 1.
