Default Viridian Emissary does the land count against land limit in the turn? mtg

When I play Viridian Emissary, does the land I get from it count against my allowed number of lands for that turn? And what if I've already played a land that turn?

The rule doesn't say you can only have one land come into play per turn. It says you can only play one land card FROM YOUR HAND. Other cards, such as Explore or Fastbond, allow you to play additional land cards FROM YOUR HAND

To be a bit more accurate, the rule is that you can only play one land per turn. With Viridian Emissary, you're not playing the land, you're simply putting it into play.
