Default Titan Forge rulings Vampire Hexmage charge counters

If an opponent's Titan Forge has 3 counters on it and he activates the ability, can I respond with sacrificing my vampire hexmage?

Yes. BUT if that player gets the final counter and it is untapped and you decide to use the hexmage... He can respond to you doing that with the Forge and get the token.

You can try, but it won't do you any good. By the time you can activate the Hexmage, the cost of removing the counters has already been paid.
