does progenitus protection from everything includes protection from wrath of god? because someone said wrath of god kills progenitus but then why wouldnt it say instead protection from everything except wrath of god?

yes progenitus has protection from wrath of god. no that does not stop wrath of god from killing him. why ? because thats not how protection works. there are fixed rules of what protection does and it is not ignor everything it has protection from.
I don't get it![]()
From the rulings:
2/1/2009 "Protection from everything" means the following: -- Progenitus can't be blocked. -- Progenitus can't be enchanted or equipped. -- Progenitus can't be the target of spells or abilities. -- All damage that would be dealt to Progenitus is prevented.
2/1/2009 Progenitus can still be affected by effects that don't target it or deal damage to it (such as Wrath of God).
Does Prot everything include colourless? AND if it doesnt can i burn progeniteus down to a kill when i have http://magiccards.info/shm/en/186.html">Everlasting Torment in play? (with colourless burnspells)

Protection from everything is exactly what it says on the tin - protection from EVERYTHING. If it exists, Progenitus has protection from it. Full stop.
Everlasting Torment can help you here. Since damage can't be prevented, the prevention part of protection is null. However, you still can't target it with anything that would damage it. What you need is a "sweeper" - something that deals damage to everything without specifically targeting anything (see also: Volcanic Fallout, Pyroclasm, Inferno, etc).

yeah that actualy works nowerdays. protection was changed ever so slightly. the damage part used to be "all damage from a source "this" has protection from is reduced to 0". now they changed it that the damage is actualy prevented.
just adding this cause i know lordmattu personaly and know that at the time he stoped playing competative it was still the old prevention rules, just in case your wondering ^^.
Fair enough. And yeah, I know a lot of players even now who still get the protection rules confused (not knowing that something like Everlasting Torment or Searing Pain can get around protection).
