In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede not?
If in three player magic game I am Player A and I take control of turn of player B using Sorin Markov and its his turn now and I am controlling it and I plan on using his stuff against player C, can he concede while I am controlling his turn (which I dont want since I need to use his stuff against player C) or does he have to wait until he gets his turn back?
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
They can choose to concede at any time.
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
ok so can I cast instants from his hand or activate his abilities for last time in response to him conceding?
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
No. Conceding is something that just "happens" - you can't respond to it in any way.
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
ok so what if player C has 2 life left and I am in control of Player B's turn and he has a lightning bolt in his hand and I say that I am casting the lightning bolt and tap mana and put the card on the table and at that moment, player B who is more friends with player C then with me so he says he concedes because he doesnt want player C to lose but what happens to the lightning bolt can it still go through did it manage to go on the stack at the last moment?
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
Once a player leaves the game, they take all their cards with them.
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
I know about the cards but as I said I already annoucned the lightning bolt and paid for it and put the card on the table so is it considered that the spell is on the stack? do spells already on the stack also leave the game :confused:
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
Well, the spell is represented by the card. Once the card leaves, the spell does too, cause they're the same thing.
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
but what about the rule that the ability exists independent of its source?
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
because I've read here many times that the ability will remain on the stack even if the source has left play
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
as youve been told, when other player concedes its over as far as his cards go and they all leave the game...
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
if so. then what about this:

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
all the examples I mentioned confirm that if the ability is on the stack, then its exists independent of its source and will resolve whatever happens so when I cast the lightning bolt I am putting it on the stack and it will resolve

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
800.4a. When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the
game, all spells and abilities controlled by that player on the stack cease to exist, and any
change-of-control effects which give that player control of any objects end. Then, if there are
any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not a state-based
action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the game had
priority at the time he or she left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the
game.

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
so what about this then:
112.7a Once activated or triggered, an ability exists on the stack independently of its source.
Destruction or removal of the source after that time won’t affect the ability. Note that some
abilities cause a source to do something (for example, “Prodigal Sorcerer deals 1 damage to
target creature or player”) rather than the ability doing anything directly. In these cases, any
activated or triggered ability that references information about the source because the effect
needs to be divided checks that information when the ability is put onto the stack. Otherwise, it
will check that information when it resolves. In both instances, if the source is no longer in the
zone it’s expected to be in at that time, its last known information is used. The source can still
perform the action even though it no longer exists.

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
also now that I'm looking at the rules I see that once I have announced the spell, it immediately moves to the stack:
601.2a The player announces that he or she is casting the spell. That card (or that copy of a card)
moves from where it is to the stack. It becomes the topmost object on the stack. It has all the
characteristics of the card (or the copy of a card) associated with it, and that player becomes its
controller. The spell remains on the stack until it’s countered, it resolves, or an effect moves it
elsewhere.
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
and in the sitatution I described I already announced it and chose targets and paid for its mana so its been on the stack for a while
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
so rule 112.7a applies in this case
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
based on rule 112.7a and 601.2a it implies that the lightning bolt will resolve and deal the damage normally and I would therefore have won the game...
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
something like this had happened to me before but I didnt read the rules then and both of them said that once he conceded then its over and I cant do nothing and I couldnt argue because it was 2 against one but now I realize I shouldve won
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
dude you should drop this... like people have told you once the player conceded everything he has leaves the game...its over as far as his cards and spells are concerened...they go poof
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
then what about rule 112.7a
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
here it is agian for referance since it went to the other page
112.7a Once activated or triggered, an ability exists on the stack independently of its source.

abilities cause a source to do something (for example, “Prodigal Sorcerer deals 1 damage to

perform the action even though it no longer exists.

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
The rule void elemental quoted overrides it:
If the player who left the game had
priority at the time he or she left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the
game.

Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
well as I said there is a conflict between the two rules not sure why you say the other rule wins
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
OMG no wonder player B is more friends with player C then with you
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
whats that supposed to mean
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
dude it means this is only a game you taking it too seriously... as people have told you when he conceded then all stuff related to him is out of the game
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
well this kind of ^$%##$ has happened too many times for me I'm supposed to win and other player concedes last moment and always he waits until I've wasted mana and taken control of his turn and am about to win against other player
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
and still not sure why doesnt rule 112.7a apply
-

if its a game then why did other player concede at last moment rather then waiting a few more seconds and letting my lightning bolt resolve why did he care so much that I dont win
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
rule 112.7a is meant more for like when a creature is destroyed after the ability has been activated, or its been exiled, or its no longer in the same zone for any reason
but when a player conceded all his objects leave the game entirely - they dont go to another zone, they dont resolve, they dont nothing - everything related to him just ceases to exist
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
I was enjoying a quiet thanksgiving vacation until I read this there goes my relaxation
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
think of a player leaving the game that he ceases to exist in the magic universe
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
then if so, how come damage he had caused me doesnt "cease to exist"?
-
Re: In multiplayer magic game I take control of next turn using Sorin Markov concede
and how come life gain he gave the other player also doesnt cease to exist and is reversed
-
