Yes you can, because it's a different, separate ability. That rule only means that you can't choose the same target more than once for a single spell or ability (per instance of the word "target").

ok so you are saing if you pay 1 the ability leaves the stack, we didnt find anything on the rules about abilities leaving the stack after they resolved. We did find out that instants leave the stack and go to the graveyard after resolving. the point of argue is this, since the ability doesnt leave the stack because it cant go to the graveyard it remains there and i cant do an ability on top of another one. the point of argue is about the abilities leaving the stack, we didnt find anything on the code and they assume it doesnt leave the stack and hence cant use my second mage. They pay 1 and thats it

From the rules:

608.2k As the final part of an instant or sorcery spell’s resolution, the spell is put into its owner’s graveyard. As the final part of an ability’s resolution, the ability is removed from the stack and ceases to exist.
