Depends a lot on the deck, if I had to guess what the "average" is then its probably around 20 since some players use like 24 lands in their deck while other might use as few as 16 if they have other sources of mana in their decks

for casual a good rule of thumb is 20. for tournament play its usualy 23/24. some decks go as low as 1 land and some as high as 43 but these are highly specialised decks. if you play something "normal" the rules of thumb above should serve you well in most cases.
