Can Planeswalkers be countered?

I have people fighting tooth and nail trying to say they can't be, but when logic comes into play, they're still playing a spell.

1) Can Planeswalkers be countered?

Yes. When being cast from your hand they are a planeswalker spell while on the stack. Thus they can be countered by anything that says "Counter target spell"

2) Once in play can a Planeswalkers ability be countered?

Yes. It is an activated ability with the cost being +/- loyalty counters. So a card like Stifle which specifically counters an activated ability will counter it (the loyalty conters are still added/subtracted)

3) Planeswalkers are exempt from "Rise from the Grave," Correct?

Yes, Planeswalkers are not creatures. Since Rise if after a creature it will ignore planeswalkers.
