    Default mtg cards difference between power and toughness

    Totally newbie player here

    Whats the difference between power and toughness on a magic card? what does each of them do?

    Power is the amount of damage that creature deals in combat.

    Toughness is the amount of damage the creature can take before it is killed.

    So for example if we look at the canopy spider, if you attack with it you will deal 1 damage.

    If you block with it or otherwise it takes damage, it wont die until it had taken 3 damage
