How does the Crypt Rats / Spirit Link Combo work?

Spirit link is an enchantment costing only W:

Enchant creature (Target a creature as you play this. This card comes into play attached to that creature.)
Whenever enchanted creature deals damage, you gain that much life.

Crypt rats is a 1/1 creature costing 2B

Crypt Rats deals X damage to each creature and each player. Spend only black mana this way.

Basically you can gain lots of life just by spending 1 mana and doing damage to many creatures. Also, if you add a Treachurous link to the pool (All damage that would be dealt to enchanted creature is dealt to its controller instead) you could totally own!
