    protection from everything more or less means it cant be targeted by anything, it cant be damaged by anything, it cant be equipted or enchanted by anything, and it cant be blocked by anything. cruel edict doesn't target the progenitus, it targets you, so if its the only creature you have in play you will have to sacrifice it.
