Default Do you tap blocking creatures?

I read the basic rulebook over at the Wizards of the Coast website, one thing that was not clear to me is whether creatures that are blocking also become tapped? I know that attacking creatures get tapped, and it makes sense that blocking creatures also get tapped but i'm not sure

Blocking creatures do not get tapped.

Also wanted to add that tapped creatures still cannot be declared as blockers (even though blocking doesnt tap the creatures)
