    Default Card Sleeve Discussion

I know many people on this forum play casual magic, and I was wondering how many of you actually use sleeves.

I personally use Dragon Shield sleeves, and they've served me faithfully for over 2 years now, with little-to-no damage.

If you do use sleeves, what are your favourite kind, and have they ever split or ripped?

    Dragon Shields are the best.

    End discussion.

    My personal preferences, in order:

    1. Dragon Shields
    2. KMC Matte Sleeves
    3. Ultra Pro Matte Sleeves

Not surprisingly, that's also a pretty accurate assessment of the quality of each.

I agree. Dragon Shields just feel so safe and strong. They give a heft to your deck that feels amazing when shuffling as well.

Ultra Pro Matte sleeves split so often, from what I hear.

Not if you're careful, or if you don't play with the sleeves a lot. My playgroup only meets once a week, so my own Ultra Pro matte sleeves are fairly pristine over a year later. I'd imagine they would fall apart in short order if I started shuffling them around much more often, but that hasn't been my experience so far.

Now, Ultra Pro's old standard glossy sleeves -- **** those things, seriously.

Oh gosh those are horrible. I used to have those when I played yugioh and.. ugh. They felt so bad.

The topic of sleeve opacity came up in a discussion somewhere else, and somebody said that Dragon Shield are non-opaque enough that you can see card-backs through. Is this only for the lighter colours? Because I'm using purple ones and I can't see the card back through them no matter what.

It's only for some colours. I've noticed some of them are see-through, others are completely opaque.

It must be Pink/White ones mainly.
