    Yes. You can block a creature, then tap it for an effect. However, if the blocking creature taps prior to damage dealing then it WILL NOT deal damage to the attacker. If you wait until after damage dealing then obviously the creature has to have lived thru it or it will be dead and in the graveyard so it's can't tap from there.

    wrong. taped blockers do deal damage. that was changed in Vl edition and has remaind that way ever since.

    506.4b Tapping or untapping a creature that's already been declared as an attacker or blocker doesn't remove it from combat and doesn't prevent its combat damage.

    no problem. since you were off the game for quite some time its no wonder some of the older rules are still stuck in memory. Vl edition had some huge rules changes. in fact more than magic 2010 has ^^.
