    Default why does attacking creature tap and blocking creature not tap

    why is it that attack creature gets tapped and block creature does not tap?

    because the rules say so. there is no logical explanation. you could construct some explanation seeing how the early days of magic were a lot about cards in play doing what seemed to best represent what they would do if it were a "real" fantasy world ... so you could say to attack you must travle to where you want to attack, so you tap. to block your just defending you home, so you dont tap. but as i said that is mearly a constructed explanation.
